(Ottawa, ON) 28 septembre 2021– The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges and thanks CIBC for its generous donation to support Reconciliation. This donation demonstrates their strong commitment to the ongoing work of the LHF in educating and raising awareness about the history and impacts of the Residential School Systems and the and the impacts that they continue to have on Indigenous Peoples today.

These funds will support the development and distribution of resources which will integrate more Indigenous content into the curriculum to affect long-term change in the relationships among Indigenous and all Canadians.” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. “We thank them for this generous donation, which allows us to continue to develop materials to keep educating and reaching more Canadians.”

“CIBC acknowledges and honours the history and rich culture of Indigenous Peoples,” said David Attard, SVP Digital & Enablement, CIBC. “We have made a donation to the Legacy of Hope Foundation to support their important work of raising awareness about the continued impact of residential schools and systemic racism in Canada.”

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and reconciliation in Canada for over 20 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices in order to contribute to the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.

La FAE dispose de plus de 20 expositions accessibles au public et travaille à rendre ses autres expositions disponibles en ligne. La Fondation possède également des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle à la 12e année et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activités visant à sensibiliser les Canadiens à l'histoire autochtone et à l'histoire commune des pensionnats et des externats, de la Rafle des années 60, des femmes et des filles autochtones disparues ou assassinées et autres actes coloniaux d’oppression. La FAE travaille à développer l'empathie et la compréhension afin d'éliminer le racisme envers les peuples autochtones du Canada et promouvoir la Réconciliation.
