(Ottawa, ON) 31 mai 2022 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is grateful to the support and generosity of spirit demonstrated by RONA Oakville. Thanks to the donation received as part of the Lowe’s Canada Heroes campaign, the LHF will continue to produce education materials and exhibitions that speak to the rich histories, as well as the impacts of abuses on 7 generations of Indigenous Peoples and communities as a result of attending Residential and Day Schools, and/or being affected by the Sixties Scoop.

As part of the Lowe’s Canada Heroes Campaign drive, the RONA Oakville store has raised $1,528.00 towards the LHF with an additional $764.00 donated by Lowe’s Canada. The LHF is thankful for the support of RONA Oakville, Lowe’s Canada and the community for their tremendous support and generosity. RONA Oakville is one of the community’s leading home improvement stores located in Oakville, Ontario. They provide a wide range of in-store and online products in addition to expert advice and customer support serving a diverse community.

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 22 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and impacts on 7 generations of Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) children, their families and communities from attending Residential and Day Schools. By fostering empathy and understanding, LHF encourages people to address discrimination and injustice and contributes to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples.

La FAE dispose de plus de 25 expositions accessibles au public et travaille à rendre ses autres expositions disponibles en ligne. La Fondation possède également des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle à la 12e année et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activités visant à sensibiliser les Canadiens à l'histoire autochtone et à l'histoire commune des pensionnats et des externats, de la Rafle des années 60, etc. La FAE travaille à développer l'empathie et la compréhension afin d'éliminer le racisme à l’égard des peuples autochtones.
