(Ottawa, ON) 30 août 2021– The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges and honours Holt Renfrew for their generous donation to support Curriculum Resources for students across Canada. This $25,000 donation demonstrates the strong commitment towards the ongoing work of the LHF in educating and raising awareness about the history and impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems, the subsequent effects of the Sixties Scoop, and the aftermath that they continue to have on Indigenous Peoples through collective and intergenerational trauma. These funds will help to support the resources which seek to integrate more Indigenous education into curriculum, to affect lasting change in the relationships among Indigenous Peoples and all Canadians.

“This incredibly generous donation will go to support LHF in producing more quality resources for early learning in an age-appropriate way, so that young students can learn about the impacts of Residential Schools on generations of Indigenous Peoples within the curriculum and be inspired to eliminate racism and behave respectfully toward Indigenous Peoples,” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. She continued, “We know that by educating youth – our future leaders and decision-makers about the truth about our shared history, we will be able to foster empathy, understanding and respect, which will lead to the elimination of discrimination and injustice.”

La FAE propose également des programmes scolaires de la maternelle à la 12e année, des ateliers et des formations, des podcasts pour adultes, plus de 700 témoignages oraux de Survivants et Survivantes et des guides d'activités, tous destinés à éduquer les Canadiens sur l'histoire autochtone et l'histoire commune des pensionnats et des externats indiens, de la Rafle des années 60 et d'autres actes d'oppression coloniale. La FAE vise à développer l'empathie et la compréhension afin d'éliminer l'injustice, d'offrir des solutions sur la façon d'être un allié et de favoriser la Réconciliation au Canada.
