La Fondation Legacy of Hope commémore le mardi de dons
(Ottawa, ON) 30 novembre 2020 – This year the Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) will be participating in Giving Tuesday on December 1, 2020, a day that celebrates giving over receiving. Giving Tuesday happens on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday and is a day to shift the emphasis of the season away from consumerism and back to giving and sharing. Please donate to help the LHF continue to develop and produce important teaching resources so that all Canadians may have access to the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. We work to foster empathy and understanding about the colonial acts of oppression Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) faced and continue to experience today and to address racism and injustice.
“Education and awareness are the basis to connecting and relating to what Indigenous Peoples’ experienced, and eventually inspiring people to take positive actions that contribute to equality, dignity, and just relationships among all people in Canada,” said Adam North Peigan, the Board President for the Legacy of Hope Foundation.
The LHF is celebrating their 20-year anniversary as a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School System, Sixties Scoop and other injustices on Indigenous Peoples.
Our latest exhibition, Escaping Residential Schools: Running for their Lives, is now available through an animated virtual video, along with the Survivors’ Oral Testimonies. The exhibition examines the experience of Survivors of the Residential School System and raises awareness on the impacts it has on our communities.
