(Ottawa, ON) August 26, 2022 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is grateful to the support and generosity of spirit demonstrated by ORIMS. Thanks to this donation, the LHF will continue to produce education materials and exhibitions that speak to the rich histories, as well as the impacts of abuses on 7 generations of Indigenous Peoples and communities as a result of attending Residential and Day Schools, and/or being affected by the Sixties Scoop.

Incorporated in 1960, Ontario Risk and Insurance Management Society (Ontario RIMS) is the largest RIMS chapter in Canada. ORIMS strives to promote and advance excellence in risk and insurance management by promoting the discipline of risk management, the educational development of risk managers and promoting positive relationships with other professional organizations.

“We are honoured to support the Legacy of Hope Foundation and the work they carry out to educate, promote healing and Reconciliation for Indigenous Peoples in Canada. We all need and want to be part of the Reconciliation journey and that starts with education, understanding and empathy,” said Ann Hildreth, the Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for ORIMS.

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 22 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and impacts on 7 generations of Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) children, their families and communities from attending Residential and/or Day School. By fostering empathy and understanding, LHF encourages people to address discrimination and injustice and contributes to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples.

La FAE dispose de plus de 25 expositions accessibles au public et travaille à rendre ses autres expositions disponibles en ligne. La Fondation possède également des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle à la 12e année et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activités visant à sensibiliser les Canadiens à l'histoire autochtone et à l'histoire commune des pensionnats et des externats, de la Rafle des années 60, etc. La FAE travaille à développer l'empathie et la compréhension afin d'éliminer le racisme à l’égard des peuples autochtones.
