La Fondation autochtone de l’espoir remercie l'International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 873 pour son généreux don
(Ottawa, ON) 4 novembre 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) would like to honour and acknowledge the $ 5,000 USD donation from IATSE Union Local 873 to support the LHF in promoting greater awareness and education on Indigenous history including the impacts and injustices caused to generations while at Residential Schools.
The IATSE began in 1893 and is the largest film technician’s union in the world. IATSE is known as the union behind entertainment and has over 120,000 members across North America. IATSE Local 873 represents 3,400 members who are made up of Ontario film and television production technicians. They are a labour union that strives to provide a safe working environment, great health benefits, a group retirement savings plan, and competitive wages that are on average 20% to 50% more than those working on non-union feature film and television productions.
Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Counsel at the LHF said, “The donation that IATSE has made will provide support to the furthering of resource development at the LHF. It is a generous donation that will allow us to reach a greater audience with our message of Reconciliation.”
The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.
