(Ottawa, ON) 30 juillet 2021– The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) would like to acknowledge the generous donation from the École bilingue Notre-Dame de Sion graduating class of 2021 and thank them for supporting Reconciliation. The École bilingue Notre-Dame de Sion is based in Saint Laurent, Quebec. The LHF will utilize this generous donation to help pay for the development and curation of educational resources and materials, which will educate Canadians across Canada.

Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel, stated upon learning about the efforts and donation, “It is really encouraging to know that our youth are leading the charge and taking action to foster Reconciliation in Canada. We are so honoured and grateful that the graduating students of 2021 from École bilingue Notre-Dame de Sion chose to support the LHF. We are honoured to receive this donation and we want to congratulate the class of 2021 for their successes and wish them the best in their future.”

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 20 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices in order to contribute to the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.

La LHF a plus de 20 expositions éducatives qui promeuvent la sensibilisation à l'histoire autochtone qui sont libres d'emprunter et travaille à rendre les expositions disponibles en ligne. La LHF propose également un programme pour la maternelle à la 12e année et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activités, des ateliers et des formations visant à éduquer les Canadiens sur l'histoire autochtone et l'histoire commune des pensionnats et des externats, la rafle des années 60, etc. La LHF travaille à développer l'empathie et compréhension afin d'éliminer le racisme envers les peuples autochtones au Canada.
