The Legacy of Hope Foundation Celebrates LHF President, Adam North Peigan for receiving the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee Medal <\/strong><\/h2><\/h1><\/div>

(Ottawa, ON) <\/strong>February 9, 2023 \u2013 <\/strong>The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) Board and Staff are delighted to congratulate and celebrate Board President, Adam North Peigan, for being an award winner of the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee Medal.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, February 5, 2023, LHF Board President Adam North Peigan was awarded a Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee Medal for his significant contribution to the Province of Alberta for his work moving Reconciliation forward for all Canadians. Adam demonstrated exceptional qualities and outstanding service in the province regarding his work with the Sixties Scoop Indigenous Society of Alberta for exceptional service to the community. The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Edmonton-Castle Downs Constituency nominated Adam to receive this honour as a lasting recognition for his dedication and service.<\/p>\n

Adam attended the ceremony with his wife, Lena Wildman, son Slade, and granddaughter Alayla\u00a0where MLA Nicole Goehring, on behalf of the Alberta Lieutenant Governor, presented him with his medal and certificate (pictured below).<\/p>\n

To mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada, a new commemorative medal was created. The Medal program was part of the Platinum Jubilee year celebrations and was awarded to 7,000 Albertans throughout 2022 in recognition of significant contributions to the province.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all value and appreciate Adam\u2019s wonderful leadership as our Board President of our national organization so it is fabulous to see him getting recognized for his accomplishments in his home province as well. We are proud to celebrate him and this incredible achievement,\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director & In-House Legal Counsel at LHF.<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 22 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and impacts on 7 generations of Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis) children, their families and communities from attending Residential and\/or Day School and other related impacts. By developing understanding and addressing racism, LHF gives Canadians the tools to address discrimination and the ability to build respectful relationships, which contributes to the equity and dignity of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.<\/p>\n

The LHF almost 30 educational exhibitions that promote awareness of Indigenous history that are free to borrow and is working on making exhibitions available online. LHF also has bilingual curriculums for K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training for businesses, unions and governments, and Podcasts all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism against Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation and Healing in Canada.<\/p>\n
