(Ottawa, ON) <\/strong>January 23, 2023 \u2013 <\/strong>The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is grateful for the support and generosity of spirit demonstrated by Energy Atlantica. Thanks to their donation, the LHF can continue to produce education materials and exhibitions that speak to the rich histories, as well as the impacts of abuses on 7 generations of Indigenous Peoples and communities as a result of attending Residential and Day Schools, and\/or being affected by the Sixties Scoop.<\/p>\n

Energy Atlantica is a Halifax-based energy trading company whose team specializes in the physical and financial management of natural gas and natural gas transportation assets for clients in Eastern Canada and the Northeast US. Energy Atlantica focuses on providing best-in-class service and cultivating trusting and fun relationships with their clients, who in turn remain loyal in a sea of competitors. To this day, not a single client was lost. Energy Atlantica is proud of GIVETOLIVE, a charitable organization founded within the walls and by the employees of Energy Atlantica. Over 14 years, their team has created, organized, directed, and participated in endurance events that have inspired thousands of people to exercise, give back, and achieve something extraordinary. Collectively, these efforts have raised over $3.5 million for worthy causes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis donation is intended to support the essential work of the Legacy of Hope Foundation and is an acknowledgement of the importance of education on the experiences of Indigenous Peoples as a crucial step towards Reconciliation,\u201d said Todd McDonald, CEO.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so thankful for the kindness and generosity we received from Energy Atlantica. It is amazing to have a Canadian company reach out to educate Canadians about Indigenous history and ongoing impacts. When we come together to support a cause, we implement acts of Reconciliation,\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF.<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 22 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and impacts on 7 generations of Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis) children, their families and communities from attending Residential and\/or Day School. By developing understanding and addressing stereotypes, LHF gives Canadians the tools to address discrimination and the ability to build respectful relationships, which contributes to the equity and dignity of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.<\/p>\n

The LHF has more than 30 educational exhibitions that promote awareness of Indigenous history that are free to borrow and is working on making exhibitions available online. LHF also has curricula for K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training, and Podcasts all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, etc. In order to offer solutions on how to be an ally. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism against Indigenous Peoples.<\/p>\n<\/div>
