(Ottawa, ON) September 13, 2021\u2013<\/strong> La Fondation autochtone de l'espoir (FAE) est heureuse d'annoncer l'ach\u00e8vement d'un projet pilote financ\u00e9 par la Fondation Trillium de l'Ontario (FTO). La subvention de 75\u2009000 $ de la Fondation Trillium de l'Ontario a permis \u00e0 la FAE de travailler avec des gardiens du savoir et des a\u00een\u00e9s, des survivants et des survivants interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnels, ainsi qu'avec de jeunes Autochtones de la Premi\u00e8re Nation des Chippewas de la Tamise, afin d'apprendre des fa\u00e7ons durables de cultiver des aliments dans leurs propres communaut\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Despite revolving pandemic lockdowns and restrictions, the project was able to meet all of its goals and objectives. This success was made possible thanks to extraordinary individuals, who each brought a critical element and skill to this project, bringing it to fruition. With support\u00a0from key stakeholders, the LHF shifted the entire project from its original conception of in \u2013 person,\u00a0into a blended-online model.<\/p>\n

Teresa Edwards, Executive Director, and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF stated, \u201cLaunching this pilot project during a pandemic was a challenging undertaking, but the spirit and drive of the volunteer youth in the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation was outstanding and carried this project to its completion. We are so grateful to OTF and to all the participants that made this Food Sovereignty Project come to life because now we can build on that knowledge and help other Nations across Canada to do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Legacy of Hope Foundation is to be commended for its innovative way to bring collaboration to a fruitful project. This kind of funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation can really make a difference and allow initiatives such as the Seed Project to expand and benefit a lot of people.\u201d Said Lucille Collard, MPP for Ottawa-Vanier.<\/p>\n

La FAE s'appuiera sur le succ\u00e8s de ce programme et le d\u00e9veloppera. Maintenant que le mod\u00e8le a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9, la prochaine \u00e9tape consiste \u00e0 en \u00e9largir la port\u00e9e afin que davantage de jeunes Autochtones puissent en b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier et \u00eatre connect\u00e9s \u00e0 la nourriture qui les nourrit, eux et leurs familles. Ce projet renforce les connaissances, les comp\u00e9tences et les capacit\u00e9s des jeunes autochtones tout en leur faisant conna\u00eetre des aliments sains et en leur transmettant des connaissances culturelles et traditionnelles qu'ils emporteront avec eux pour les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir en \u00e9tablissant leurs propres besoins en mati\u00e8re de souverainet\u00e9 alimentaire dans leur r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n

The LHF has been in operation for more than 21 years as a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School System, Sixties Scoop and other colonial acts of oppression on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis) Peoples.<\/p>\n

Une exposition r\u00e9cente, Fuir les pensionnats indiens : fuir pour sauver nos vies, est maintenant disponible sous forme de vid\u00e9o virtuelle anim\u00e9e, accompagn\u00e9e des t\u00e9moignages oraux des survivants. L'exposition examine l'exp\u00e9rience des survivants du R\u00e9gime des pensionnats indiens et sensibilise la population aux impacts de ce syst\u00e8me sur nos communaut\u00e9s. La FAE poss\u00e8de \u00e9galement des programmes d'\u00e9tudes de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s, des ateliers et des formations, des recherches et des podcasts visant \u00e0 sensibiliser les Canadiens \u00e0 l'histoire autochtone et \u00e0 l'histoire commune des impacts sur sept g\u00e9n\u00e9rations qui ont fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 les pensionnats et les externats, qui ont fait partie de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, et ses liens avec les taux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de femmes et de filles autochtones disparues et assassin\u00e9es. La FAE travaille \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper l'empathie et la compr\u00e9hension afin d'\u00e9liminer le racisme et d'inspirer des gestes qui favorisent la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada\u2019s leading granting foundations.
