(Ottawa, ON) 10 novembre 2021 <\/strong>-<\/strong> La Fondation autochtone de l\u2019espoir (FAE) tient \u00e0 remercier Thea Thomas et Karahkwa Designs pour leur g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 et leur soutien. Karahkwa Designs est une marque de maillots de bain et d'accessoires dirig\u00e9e par des Autochtones et bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Kahnawake, au Qu\u00e9bec. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur don, la FAE sera en mesure d'imprimer davantage de ressources \u00e9ducatives pour renseigner les Canadiens et Canadiennes sur l'histoire autochtone, lutter contre la discrimination et favoriser la R\u00e9conciliation.<\/p>\n

Karahkwa Designs se passionne pour la fabrication de maillots de bain et d'accessoires de qualit\u00e9, accessibles et abordables. Karahkwa signifie \u00ab\u2009soleil\u2009\u00bb en mohawk et \u00e9voque \u00e9galement l'orientation, l'\u00e9tablissement d'objectifs, la confiance et la r\u00e9ussite qui caract\u00e9risent Karahkwa Designs. Avec Karahkwa comme nom et logo, le soleil est per\u00e7u comme un vecteur transformant la pens\u00e9e en \u00e9nergie et menant vers l'action. Les femmes qui dirigent Karahkwa Designs ont adopt\u00e9 la devise \u00ab\u2009Ensemble, tous accomplissent davantage\u2009\u00bb.<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe support that they have shown to the LHF is so encouraging,\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. She continued, \u201cWe are so thankful to all Indigenous-led businesses doing what they can to give back. With Karahkwa Designs, it not only speaks to their success, but to their motto of working with others to accomplish more.\u201d<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

La LHF propose 25 expositions en pr\u00eat gratuit. Une exposition, Fuir les pensionnats indiens : fuir pour sauver nos vies<\/em>, is now available through an animated virtual video, along with the Survivors\u2019 Oral Testimonies. The exhibition examines the experience of Survivors of the Residential School System and raises awareness on the impacts it has on our communities. La LHF propose \u00e9galement un programme de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s, des ateliers et des formations, et des balados, tous visant \u00e0 \u00e9duquer les Canadiens sur l'histoire autochtone et l'histoire commune des pensionnats indiens, la rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, les femmes autochtones disparues et assassin\u00e9es et \u00c9coles de filles et de jour.
