Ottawa, ON) 4 novembre 2021<\/strong>\u2014 The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is honoured to be the recipients of Hope Drost\u2019s fundraising proceeds from her homemade orange bracelet project. Hope is a 13-year-old member of the Beaver Lake CreeNation, in Alberta. Her generous donation will help support furthering resources for Survivors across Canada.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so grateful for Hope\u2019s fundraising initiative,\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Counsel at the LHF. \u201cWe are especially heartened that a young person would feel moved to start a project to benefit our organization,\u201d she said. \u201cThe proceeds of Hope\u2019s fundraiser will go directly towards developing new resources that will support Survivors in their healing; what an incredible act of generosity and kindness,\u201d Teresa continued.<\/p>\n

For over 21 years, the LHF has been an Indigenous-led charitable organization, striving to raise awareness regarding both, past and present discriminatory issues. Working towards reconciliation, the LHF promotes healing across Canada. The LHF educates communities on the consequences of Residential Schools, Sixties Scoop, the Day School System and other colonial acts of oppression on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Me\u0301tis) Peoples.<\/p>\n

The LHF has 25 exhibitions that are available for loan for free. One of these insightful and educational exhibitions is, Escaping Residential Schools: Running for their Lives, that includes Survivors\u2019 Oral Testimonies. To access the project, please visit: http:\/\/legacyofhope.ca\/project\/escapingrs\/ The video is virtually animated and examines the experiences and injustices of Survivors of the Residential School System. It highlights the impacts of racial injustices in Canadian communities. The LHF is working on making its other exhibitions also available online.<\/p>\n

La Fondation poss\u00e8de \u00e9galement des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s visant \u00e0 sensibiliser les Canadiens \u00e0 l'histoire autochtone et \u00e0 l'histoire commune des pensionnats indiens, de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, des femmes et des filles autochtones disparues ou assassin\u00e9es et des \u00e9coles de jour. La FAE travaille \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper l'empathie et la compr\u00e9hension afin d'\u00e9liminer le racisme et de favoriser la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
