(Ottawa, ON) 9 novembre 2021<\/strong> \u2013 The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) would like to acknowledge the generous donation from Kyle Pitman\u2019s 8th Grade Class and the Aylesbury Public School of the Peel District School Board in Brampton, Ontario. This is an important contribution for the LHF and will help to produce more resources that educate Canadians on the impacts of abuse from the Residential Schools on generations of Indigenous Peoples.<\/p>\n

L'\u00e9cole publique Aylesbury est une \u00e9cole primaire et interm\u00e9diaire situ\u00e9e \u00e0 Brampton, en Ontario. Kyle Pitman est un enseignant de 8e ann\u00e9e dans cette \u00e9cole et sa classe a g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement organis\u00e9 une collecte de fonds pour faire un don \u00e0 la Fondation Legacy of Hope. Le d\u00e9veloppement de programmes et de ressources p\u00e9dagogiques de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e est une grande partie du mandat de la LHF, et ce don au nom d'une \u00e9cole, est la confirmation que la port\u00e9e de l'organisation s'\u00e9tend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe youth across this land are coming together in allyship -their hearts and voices are filled with the spirit of action and of Reconciliation. One such example, is the Grade 8 students at Aylesbury Public School in Brampton, ON. When they heard the news of the 215 unmarked graves at Kamloops Indian Residential School, they felt compelled to stand up and do something. Their creativity and drive led them to organizing a fundraiser at their school, to raise money for the work of the LHF. We continue to be impressed and inspired by the youth. To feel their support, reminds us that we all have a crucial role to play in the shared path of Reconciliation. Reconciling relationships, reconciling history and notions of the past, and reconciling the need to actively engage in the fight against injustices. The work we do at the LHF is to promote healing and raise awareness around the Residential School System and its subsequent impacts. Through education, we can learn to do better, and this is what Mr. Pitman\u2019s Grade 8 students have reminded us.\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF.<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

La Fondation a plus de 25 expositions \u00e9ducatives qui favorisent la sensibilisation \u00e0 l'histoire autochtone et qui peuvent \u00eatre emprunt\u00e9es gratuitement, et travaille \u00e0 la mise en ligne de ses expositions. La FAE poss\u00e8de \u00e9galement des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s, des ateliers, des formations et des podcasts, tous visant \u00e0 sensibiliser les Canadiens \u00e0 l\u2019histoire autochtone et \u00e0 l\u2019histoire commune des pensionnats indiens et des \u00e9coles de jour, de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, etc. La FAE travaille \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper l'empathie et la compr\u00e9hension afin d'\u00e9liminer le racisme et de favoriser la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
