(Ottawa, ON) 4 novembre 2021<\/strong> \u2013 The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) would like to honour and acknowledge the $ 5,000 USD donation from IATSE Union Local 873 to support the LHF in promoting greater awareness and education on Indigenous history including the impacts and injustices caused to generations while at Residential Schools.<\/p>\n

The IATSE began in 1893 and is the largest film technician\u2019s union in the world. IATSE is known as the union behind entertainment and has over 120,000 members across North America. IATSE Local 873 represents 3,400 members who are made up of Ontario film and television production technicians. They are a labour union that strives to provide a safe working environment, great health benefits, a group retirement savings plan, and competitive wages that are on average 20% to 50% more than those working on non-union feature film and television productions.<\/p>\n

Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Counsel at the LHF said, \u201cThe donation that IATSE has made will provide support to the furthering of resource development at the LHF. It is a generous donation that will allow us to reach a greater audience with our message of Reconciliation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Me\u0301tis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

La Fondation a plus de 25 expositions \u00e9ducatives qui favorisent la sensibilisation \u00e0 l'histoire autochtone et qui peuvent \u00eatre emprunt\u00e9es gratuitement, et travaille \u00e0 la mise en ligne de ses expositions. La FAE poss\u00e8de \u00e9galement des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s, des ateliers, des formations et des podcasts, tous visant \u00e0 sensibiliser les Canadiens \u00e0 l\u2019histoire autochtone et \u00e0 l\u2019histoire commune des pensionnats indiens et des \u00e9coles de jour, de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, etc. La FAE travaille \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper l'empathie et la compr\u00e9hension afin d'\u00e9liminer le racisme et de favoriser la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n
