(Ottawa, ON) 28 octobre 2021<\/strong> \u2013 The Legacy of Hope Foundation is appreciative to the Junior Golfers and the community of Marathon, Ontario for holding a Fundraising Tournament on September 12, 2021, where they raised $9,000 for the LHF. This donation will go directly to supporting the development of more educational resources to be shared in schools across Canada and will help to foster Reconciliation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHaving the youth and the community in Marathon take action to raise awareness about Indigenous history and to offer their support to LHF is both inspiring and wonderful and we are so thankful. This donation was made possible due to the generous acts of service by the junior golfers and community of Marathon,\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel.<\/p>\n

Marathon is a small community of about 3,000 people located on the North Shore of Lake Superior, 300 klms east of Thunder Bay. The community came together to support the Junior Golfers and LHF- from personal donations and businesses providing prizes and corporate sponsorship \u2013everyone helped to make the tournament a success. The LHF acknowledges and thanks the sponsors, volunteers, golf course staff and all the players of the Marathon Junior Golf Charity Tournament who helped to raise money toward educational resources that will lead to positive change.<\/p>\n

The LHF has been in operation for more than 21 years as a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School System, Sixties Scoop, and other colonial acts of oppression on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Me\u0301tis) Peoples.<\/p>\n

The LHF has 25 exhibitions that are available for loan for free. One exhibition, Escaping Residential Schools: Running for their Lives, is now available through an animated virtual video, along with the Survivors\u2019 Oral Testimonies. The exhibition examines the experience of Survivors of the Residential School System and raises awareness on the impacts it has on our communities. La Fondation poss\u00e8de \u00e9galement des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s visant \u00e0 sensibiliser les Canadiens \u00e0 l'histoire autochtone et \u00e0 l'histoire commune des pensionnats indiens, de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, des femmes et des filles autochtones disparues ou assassin\u00e9es et des \u00e9coles de jour. La FAE travaille \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper l'empathie et la compr\u00e9hension afin d'\u00e9liminer le racisme et de favoriser la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
