(Ottawa, ON) 28 octobre 2021<\/strong> \u2013 The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is extremely grateful to Resist Clothing Company for the $15,500 they raised through their Orange Shirt sales. Their support will help ensure the LHF can continue their work of educating Canadians about the impacts of the Residential and Day School System and other colonial acts of oppression in order to foster Reconciliation and healing across Canada.<\/p>\n

Resist Clothing Company est une entreprise de v\u00eatements d\u00e9contract\u00e9s d\u00e9tenue et exploit\u00e9e par des autochtones. Le propri\u00e9taire et fondateur Mitch Gegwetch, membre de la Premi\u00e8re Nation Sagamok, a eu l'id\u00e9e de cr\u00e9er une marque de v\u00eatements qui soutient la r\u00e9sistance et l'autonomisation des autochtones. Resist Clothing Company est membre du Conseil canadien pour le commerce autochtone et ses v\u00eatements sont fabriqu\u00e9s dans des usines \u00e0 salaire \u00e9quitable sur l'\u00eele de la Tortue. Chaque ann\u00e9e,Resist Clothing Company fabrique des chandails orange afin de recueillir des fonds pour des organisations qui \u0153uvrent en faveur des communaut\u00e9s autochtones et de la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so grateful to have the support of other Indigenous organizations in helping us raise awareness of the impacts caused by the Residential School System. Together, we are reaching future generations and fostering Reconciliation in Canada,\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel.
\nThe LHF has been in operation for more than 21 years as a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential School and Day System, Sixties Scoop, and the links to socio- economic issues facing Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis) Peoples today. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and discrimination.<\/p>\n

The LHF has 25 exhibitions that are available for loan for free. One exhibition, Escaping Residential Schools: Running for their Lives, is now available through an animated virtual video, along with the Survivors\u2019 Oral Testimonies. The exhibition examines the experience of Survivors of the Residential School System and raises awareness on the impacts it has on our communities.
