(Ottawa, ON) 8 octobre 2021<\/strong>\u2013 The Legacy of Hope Foundation is pleased to announce that Rural Roots Brewing Company donated the proceeds of 2 of their craft beers, to the LHF. This donation is to support Survivors of Residential Schools, as well as to teach communities across Canada, about our shared past and present.<\/p>\n

Rural Roots Brewing Company is based out of Elmira, Ontario. The company is passionate about community, and with the recent uncovering\u2019s of children\u2019s graves, as well as learning more about the insidious nature of many Residential Schools, Rural Roots Brewing Company decided that for the month of June, they would fundraise to support action towards a better future for all. \u201cWe are about people, we are about community, and our community came together to help support this incredibly valuable cause. We truly hope this small donation can be used to help those that desperately need help,\u201d said Roger Lichti, founder of Rural Roots Brewing Company. The fundraiser increased conversations on-line and in-person around Reconciliation. Conversations are how information is shared and stored in communities, and the voice of Indigenous Peoples across Canada are an integral part of these communities. By truly learning and understanding the actions of the past, we can work towards a better future, ultimately building stronger communities.<\/p>\n

The LHF has been in operation for more than 20-years as a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential School System, Sixties Scoop, Day Schools and other colonial acts of oppression on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Metis) Peoples.<\/p>\n

The LHF has 25 exhibitions that are available for loan for free. Our recent exhibition, Escaping Residential Schools: Running for their Lives, is now available through an animated virtual video, along with the Survivors\u2019 Oral Testimonies. The exhibition examines the experience of Survivors of the Residential School System and raises awareness on the impacts it has on our communities. La Fondation poss\u00e8de \u00e9galement des programmes d'enseignement de la maternelle \u00e0 la 12e ann\u00e9e et pour les adultes, ainsi que des guides d'activit\u00e9s visant \u00e0 sensibiliser les Canadiens \u00e0 l'histoire autochtone et \u00e0 l'histoire commune des pensionnats indiens, de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, des femmes et des filles autochtones disparues ou assassin\u00e9es et des \u00e9coles de jour. La FAE travaille \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper l'empathie et la compr\u00e9hension afin d'\u00e9liminer le racisme et de favoriser la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n
