(Ottawa, ON) 9 juin 2021<\/strong>\u2013 The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges and honours the Fairweather Brewery for their generous donation to support Reconciliation. This $5,000 donation demonstrates their strong commitment to the ongoing work of the LHF in educating and raising awareness about the history and impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and the subsequent Sixties Scoop and the effects that they continue to have on Indigenous Peoples. These funds will support the printing and dissemination of resources, which integrate more Indigenous education into the curriculum, which will affect long-term change by educating Canadians and fostering empathy, understanding and action.<\/p>\n

The Fairweather Brewery have shared, \u201cWe\u2019re beyond grateful to be in a position to be able to offer our support to the Legacy of Hope Foundation. We wholeheartedly support their mission to raise awareness about the shameful impacts of Residential and Day Schools and the Sixties Scoop, within the context of a larger story of colonialism, as well as the critical support they provide to Survivors of trauma from these abhorrent institutions. Education and understanding are critical to restoration and equity, and a rich and inclusive cultural identity that we can all share. We would like to thank and applaud the Legacy of Hope Foundation for the essential work they are doing. It is an honour to be able to provide this contribution toward their efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so encouraged and grateful for all the support we have received from individuals and businesses\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. She continued, \u201cThis generous donation goes a long way. We are a not-for profit that receives little funding, so this will help us tremendously with the development, printing and shipping of materials to keep reaching more people so we can make discrimination a thing of the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 20 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Metis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address injustices in order to promote the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.<\/p>\n
