The Legacy of Hope Foundation’s Mitten Fundraiser<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

(Ottawa, ON) March 9, 2021 \u2013 <\/strong>La Fondation Legacy of Hope s'est associ\u00e9e \u00e0 trois artisans autochtones qui ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 quatre paires de mitaines uniques fabriqu\u00e9es \u00e0 la main qui seront tir\u00e9es au sort lors d'une collecte de fonds dont les profits serviront \u00e0 soutenir nos efforts d'\u00e9ducation en nous aidant \u00e0 imprimer et \u00e0 distribuer notre nouveau programme de semences pour K- 6.<\/p>\n

Each pair of mittens is made using traditional materials and methods. One pair is made of seal skin and fox fur by Inuit artist Lizzy Flaherty. There are two more pairs made of deer hide and rabbit fur which were created by Sayisi Dene First Nations artist Shannon Macmillan. The last pair is made of deer leather trimmed with wolf fur and was created by Mi\u2019gmag artist, Jamie Condo Metallic. These mittens feature a hand-beaded Eight Point Star, which has symbolized \u201cunity\u201d for centuries among the Mi\u2019gmaq.<\/p>\n

Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel said, \u201cWe work with Indigenous communities and we are fortunate to meet so many talented Indigenous artisans. By raffling off some of their work to fundraise we can also introduce the artists\u2019 work to a wider audience. These beautiful hand-crafted mittens will keep your hands warm and by supporting educational resources to end racism, you will warm your heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nous vendrons 60 billets de tombola pour chaque paire de mitaines. Ils co\u00fbtent $5.00 par billet ou 3 billets pour $10.00. Les mitaines peuvent \u00eatre soit ramass\u00e9es \u00e0 notre bureau d'Ottawa, soit envoy\u00e9es par la poste au gagnant. Les tirages seront diffus\u00e9s en direct sur Facebook le 8 avril 2021 \u00e0 15 h 00 HNE.<\/p>\n
