Ottawa, 4 octobre 2020 <\/strong>\u2013 Chaque ann\u00e9e, le 4 octobre, des personnes tiennent des vigiles dans tout le\npays pour se souvenir et honorer les femmes, les jeunes filles et les personnes bispirituelles autochtones\nqui sont disparues ou ont \u00e9t\u00e9 assassin\u00e9es. Les vigiles S\u0153urs d'esprit sont un mouvement national qui\nencourage les personnes, qu\u2019elles soient autochtones ou non, \u00e0 se rassembler, \u00e0 rendre hommage et \u00e0\nsensibiliser les gens \u00e0 la perte de ceux qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 victimes de violence.<\/p>\n

La Fondation autochtone de l'espoir appuie les efforts des nombreuses vigiles S\u0153urs d'esprit qui ont lieu\ndans des communaut\u00e9s \u00e0 travers le Canada afin d'honorer nos femmes, filles et personnes bispirituelles\nautochtones disparues ou assassin\u00e9es, et de soutenir les membres de leur famille et leurs proches. Cette\nann\u00e9e, le 4 octobre se d\u00e9roulera un peu diff\u00e9remment en raison de la pand\u00e9mie. Certaines communaut\u00e9s\npourront organiser des vigiles en plein air, en respectant la distanciation physique, ou m\u00eame de fa\u00e7on\nvirtuelle. Nous encourageons la participation en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pendant cette p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Le 4 octobre est un jour important pour se souvenir et honorer les personnes que nous avons perdues,\nmais nous devons agir pour rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 ces injustices et faire ce que nous pouvons pour prot\u00e9ger les autres\nde la violence\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Teresa Edwards, directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale et conseill\u00e8re juridique interne de la\nFondation autochtone de l'espoir. \u00ab\u00a0C'est \u00e9galement le moment propice pour des personnes qui pourraient\nsavoir des choses ou qui auraient entendu parler de diff\u00e9rents cas de se manifester, soit directement, soit\npar l'interm\u00e9diaire d'une ligne de signalement. Nous encourageons les gens \u00e0 faire ce qu'il faut et \u00e0\ncontribuer \u00e0 apporter la paix aux familles chaque fois que cela est possible\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Publi\u00e9 le 3 juin 2019, le rapport final de l'Enqu\u00eate nationale sur les femmes et les filles autochtones\ndisparues et assassin\u00e9es comprend de nombreuses recommandations, dont 321 appels \u00e0 la justice formul\u00e9s\n\u00e0 l'intention du gouvernement, de la police et du public pour aider \u00e0 lutter contre les niveaux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de\nviolence \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard des femmes et des filles autochtones et des personnes 2SLGBTQ+. The LHF has an exhibition in development called, Waniskahtan, which is designed to educate and create awareness about the high rates of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, the links to Residential Schools and other colonial acts of oppression in order to understand the situation and to prevent future occurrences. Along with an Activity Guide, the project addresses the injustices experienced by Indigenous women and girls, and helps to foster Reconciliation in Canada. Once the exhibition is complete, the LHF will be hosting a virtual national launch to remember and honour loved ones and to inspire action to end violence. La FAE est organisme caritatif autochtone qui, depuis 20 ans, travaille \u00e0 promouvoir la gu\u00e9rison et\nla R\u00e9conciliation au Canada. L\u2019objectif de la FAE d\u2019informer et de sensibiliser la population \u00e0\nl'histoire et aux cons\u00e9quences actuelles du r\u00e9gime des pensionnats indiens, de la Rafle des ann\u00e9es 60, des\n\u00e9coles de jour et d'autres actes d'oppression coloniale perp\u00e9tr\u00e9s contre les Survivants et Survivantes\nautochtones (Premi\u00e8res Nations, Inuits et M\u00e9tis), leurs descendants et leurs communaut\u00e9s. La FAE\nencourage les gens \u00e0 s'attaquer \u00e0 la discrimination et aux injustices et \u00e0 contribuer \u00e0 l'\u00e9galit\u00e9, \u00e0 la dignit\u00e9\net au traitement respectueux des peuples autochtones afin de promouvoir l'espoir et la gu\u00e9rison et\nfavoriser la R\u00e9conciliation au Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>
