The Legacy of Hope Foundation Congratulates Board Vice President, Dr. Allyson Stevenson for Recognition by the Royal Society of Canada<\/b><\/div><\/h1><\/div>

(Ottawa, ON) \u2013 September 10, 2025 \u2013 <\/b>The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is proud tro celebrate and acknowledge the achievement of our Vice President of the Board, Dr. Allyson Stevenson, for being recognized by the Royal Society of Canada for her outstanding research and academic contributions. The Royal Society of Canada is one of Canada\u2019s most prestigious bodies of scholars, researchers, and artists. This honour is one of the highest recognitions of scholarly achievement in Canada.<\/p>\n

Dr. Stevenson, a proud M\u00e9tis scholar from Saskatchewan, is an associate professor in the Department of Indigenous Studies at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on Indigenous histories in the prairies that combines archival work, oral histories, and decolonized approaches that highlight Indigenous knowledge systems, cultural revitalization, and cross-cultural encounters throughout colonial history.<\/p>\n

"Dr. Stevenson\u2019s recognition by the Royal Society of Canada embodies her deep commitment to uplifting Indigenous voices and histories. It is a great honour to have her wisdom and leadership on our Board of Directors<\/em>, and we congratulate her on this remarkable and much-deserved recognition,<\/em>\u201d said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at LHF.<\/p>\n

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 23 years. The LHF\u2019s goal is to educate Canadians about the history and existing impacts on generations of Indigenous Peoples caused by their experiences as children living through Residential and\/ or Day School, or within the Child Welfare System. We do this to address ongoing discrimination and injustice to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

The LHF has more than 30 educational exhibitions that inform people about Indigenous history through art and other mediums that are free to borrow, and some exhibitions are available online. LHF also has curricula for K-12 for teachers and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Research, Communication materials, and Podcasts, Workshops, and Training for businesses, all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding to eliminate racism against Indigenous Peoples. We also offer Cultural Reclamation Workshops, share Best Practices about Language Revitalization and Food Sovereignty, etc,. along with other tools to support hope and healing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
