The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) Gratefully Acknowledges Wellington Brewery for their Donation
(Ottawa, ON) October 21, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) honours and acknowledges Wellington Brewery of Guelph Ontario for their generosity. Wellington Brewery has chosen to donate $14,400 to support the Legacy of Hope Foundation. These proceeds will help to promote the ongoing work of education and Reconciliation at the LHF.
Founded in 1985, the Wellington Brewery is Canada’s oldest independently owned microbrewery. Based in Guelph, Ontario, they have been a pioneer in the craft brewing seen and take pride in being an active member of the community by supporting charitable causes and foundations like the LHF.
For over 21 years LHF has been a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has worked to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School System, Sixties Scoop, and other colonial acts of oppression on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Peoples. Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices in order to contribute to the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples.
LHF also has curriculum from K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training, and Podcasts, all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, and the links to issues such as the Sixties Scoop, high rates of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and foster Reconciliation in Canada.
