The Legacy of Hope Foundation Acknowledges and Honours Evolugen for their Generous Donation
(Ottawa, ON) June 30, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges and honours Evolugen for their generous donation to support the development of LHF’s resources, which seek to integrate more Indigenous education into curriculum, to affect lasting change in the relationships among Indigenous Peoples and all Canadians.
“With the knowledge that a key part in achieving Reconciliation is understanding the lived experience of Indigenous communities across Canada, including the impacts of the Residential School System, Evolugen is proud to support the Legacy of Hope Foundation. The work done by the LHF to foster a greater understanding of the impacts of residential schools, including through the words of Survivors, is fundamental to healing and ensuring that this never happens again,” said Josée Guibord, Chief Executive Officer at Evolugen.
“This donation will allow the LHF to produce more resources so that Canadians can learn about the impacts of Residential Schools on generations of Indigenous Peoples within the workplace,” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. “We know that by educating people about the truth about our shared history, we will be able to foster empathy, understanding and respect, that leads to the elimination of discrimination that currently exists for Indigenous Peoples.”
The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 20 years. Our goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples.
The LHF has more than 20 exhibitions that are available for Canadians to borrow, and is working on making exhibitions available online. LHF also has 2 podcast series, curriculum from K-12 and Workshops and Training for adults, along with Activity Guides, aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, and other colonial acts of oppression. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and foster Reconciliation in Canada.
