The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) Acknowledges Equitable Bank for Supporting Reconciliation in Canada

(Ottawa, ON) October 29, 2020 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation acknowledges and honours Equitable Bank for their generous donation to LHF to support Reconciliation.

In honour of Orange Shirt Day, Equitable Bank decided to do a fund-raiser and donate $2500 to the LHF to show their commitment to the ongoing Reconciliation efforts. Equitable Bank and its employees are committed to doing their part in building a better society for all Canadians. From the arts to charity events and volunteer work, Equitable Bank participates in many initiatives across Canada. Their motto is “If we can make a difference by helping one person at a time, we believe that difference will impact many in the long run.” To discover more about all the different initiatives Equitable Bank is involved in, please visit their Public Accountability Statement.

Orange Shirt Day is designed to educate people and promote awareness about the Residential School System and the impact this system had on Indigenous communities for more than a century in Canada, and still does today. “This type of support is incredible! When more Canadians support Orange Shirt Day and discuss what happened and look at solutions to address racism, real change can happen. “This is wonderful news! We are extremely grateful for any and all donations. This funding will go to helping us print our new Kindergarten to Grade 6 Curriculum called – Seeds of Change. On behalf of the LHF, I give my warmest thanks to Equitable Bank for their support,” said LHF’s Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel, Teresa Edwards.

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for 20 years. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices in order to contribute to the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.
