The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) Level Six for their Donation
(Ottawa, ON) November 4, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) wishes to thank the local Ottawa paddling apparel company, Level Six for their generosity and support. Level Six donated $3,000 to support the development and production of educational resources to increase the reach of our message across Canada.
Level Six is about the paddling lifestyle. It is a brand that was born on the water and wearing their clothing allows you to get out and enjoy yourself on the water. What started as an idea on a surf beach in Costa Rica has now led to Level Six becoming a leading player in their industry. Level Six uses the Ethical Trading Initiatives (ETI) as their product sustainability standards, to ensure that their supply chains are following good labour practices. At Level Six, sustainability and community development are enmeshed into their brand. To learn more about Level Six, you can visit their website at https://levelsix.ca/
“This donation by Level Six, speaks to their focus on community development,” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Counsel at the LHF. “The work of Reconciliation spans across Canada and involves everyone. This donation will make a difference in increasing the visibility and ability of the Legacy of Hope Foundation, to chart the path ahead,” she continued.
The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.
LHF also has curriculum from K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training, and podcasts all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, and the links to issues such as the high rates of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and foster Reconciliation in Canada.
