The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges Spirits Stand Strong for their Generosity

(Ottawa, ON) November 10, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is grateful for the generosity and support of Spirits Stand Strong. Spirits Stand Strong is a Cree family-run premium clothing and accessories label that combines modern lifestyles with Indigenous inspired design and craftsmanship. Their support is so meaningful and with this donation the LHF will be able to increase educational and exhibition resources, that seek to fill the gap in knowledge, when it comes to the Residential School System and its impacts on Indigenous Peoples across Canada.

The Spirits Stand Strong logo is of the American Buffalo standing strong beneath the Northern Lights. Their brand identity is: “No matter how much adversity Native Americans have faced, our Ancestors Spirits stand strong and continue to offer us teachings, guide us through life and our culture will not be forgotten.”  The message of strength and resilience is enmeshed into the fabric of their brand. Spirits Stand Strong is a sustainable clothing and accessories label – their products are made on-demand to avoid overproduction.

“By making this generous donation to us, Spirits Stand Strong, are echoing what we have always known, that as Indigenous Peoples, we are resilient and that by supporting each other, we will make our voices heard and have a bigger impact,” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel ant the LHF.

In the fall of 2021, Spirits Stand Strong committed to supporting the LHF by donating $5 from every sale of their MMIW and Every Child Matters apparel. Their donation is a symbol of the growing roots of community. This donation will help ensure that the LHF can produce resources that educate and promote understanding and foster Reconciliation across Canada.

The LHF is a national, indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.

The LHF has more than 25 educational exhibitions that promote awareness of Indigenous history that are free to borrow and is working on making exhibitions available online. LHF also has curriculum for K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training, and Podcasts, all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism against Indigenous Peoples.
