The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) Acknowledges Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance for their Generous Donation

(Ottawa, ON) November 17, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) would like to acknowledge the generous donation from Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance and thank them for supporting Reconciliation. The LHF will use this donation to develop educational resources and materials, which will educate Canadians across the country.
Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance (SMI) was formed in 1908 to meet a growing need for readily available, affordable insurance protection. SMI has prospered for over 100 years, providing security and service to its many policyholders. SMI is dedicated to providing superior service built on a historical foundation of integrity, commitment, and superior service.

“This donation by SMI will allow us to provide more Canadians with educational resources so that they can continue to learn about the history and impacts of the Residential School System,” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. “There is so much work yet to be done, but this donation will allow us to continue to work towards Reconciliation – a process that will take a nation-wide effort,” she continued. The LHF has been for over 21 years a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School System, Sixties Scoop, and other colonial acts of oppression on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Peoples. Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices in order to contribute to the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.

LHF also has curriculum from K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training, and Podcasts aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and foster Reconciliation in Canada.
