The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges digital media company Underknown for their generous donation

(Ottawa, ON) November 4, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) would like to acknowledge the generosity and support of services from Underknown. Underknown is an award winning, data driven, international media company. They are passionate about storytelling and have pledged support through their expertise. The Legacy of Hope Foundation is grateful to Underknown for sharing their media experience and for how it will help the LHF reach larger networks of Canadians to raise awareness about the impacts of the Residential School System and promote healing around the country with Indigenous Peoples.

Underknown is an international media company whose purpose is to tell stories that educate and inspire, so that audiences can live more informed lives and create a more understanding world. They seek to engage their audiences by creating fun and educational content. With more than 50 million followers on their social media channels, Underknown has a well-established online presence. Engaging with their audiences to ensure that people feel inspired and excited about learning is one of their main focusses and is why their support to the LHF is so valuable.

“By using Underknown’s expertise and donation of media services, the LHF will learn how to be more accessible and visible to Canadians through social media,” said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Counsel at the LHF. She continued, “It is with greater accessibility and the flow of LHF resources, that we can increase our reach of Reconciliation across this land.”

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 21 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustice in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.

The LHF has more than 25 educational exhibitions that promote awareness of Indigenous history that are free to borrow and is working on making exhibitions available online. LHF also has curriculum for K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training, and podcasts, all aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism against Indigenous Peoples.
