The Legacy of Hope Foundation Acknowledges and Thanks Sherwood Dental for their Generous Donation

(Ottawa, ON) August 23, 2021– The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is grateful for the generous donation by Sherwood Dental to support our work of educating Canadians and working towards Reconciliation.

“Supporting our community and being able to give back is a core value of our practice, and we were happy to be able to make a contribution to the LHF. We look forward to learning more about how we can support those who may be struggling during this difficult time,” said Kassidy Krueger, Communications Coordinator at Sherwood Dental.

Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel, stated, “Although it’s been painful to learn about all of the discoveries of the children’s remains near Residential Schools; we are grateful to all the companies, individuals, communities that are reaching out to offer their help in some way and we could not be more thankful for the incredible support! It makes me feel like Canadians are standing with us in solidarity and wanting to take some positive action to be part of the solution and truly be an ally.”

The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 20 years. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and subsequent Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing in Canada. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices in order to contribute to the equity, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation.

The LHF has more than 20 educational exhibitions that promote awareness of Indigenous history that are free to borrow and is working on making exhibitions available on line. LHF also has curriculum for K-12 and for adults, along with Activity Guides, Workshops and Training aimed at educating Canadians about Indigenous history and the shared history of Residential and Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, etc. The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and foster Reconciliation in Canada.
