The Legacy of Hope Foundation Acknowledges and Honours Kroetsch Family Foundation
(Ottawa, ON) June 10, 2021 – The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) acknowledges and honours Kroetsch Family Foundation for their generous donation to support Reconciliation. This $5,000 donation demonstrates their strong commitment to the ongoing work of the LHF in educating Canadians about the history and impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and the subsequent Sixties Scoop and the effects that they continue to have on Indigenous Peoples today. These funds will support the translation, printing and distribution of resources that contain Indigenous history for educators to include in the curriculum which will have a long-lasting and positive change in the relationships among Indigenous Peoples and all Canadians.
“The Kroetsch Family Foundation provided a generous donation to support our ongoing efforts, said Teresa Edwards, Executive Director and In-House Legal Counsel at the LHF. “We are so grateful for this generous donation. Because of donations like these. This will allow us to continue to develop materials, get them translated, printed and out to Canadians where they can keep educating and reaching more people so together we will build a brighter future for generations Indigenous children and their families,” she continued.
The LHF is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada for over 20 years. The LHF’s goal is to raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems and Sixties Scoop on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities to promote hope and healing. The LHF works to encourage people to address discrimination and injustices through their exhibitions, workshops, resources and curriculum in order to contribute to the equality, dignity, and respectful treatment of Indigenous Peoples and to foster Reconciliation in Canada.

The LHF works to develop empathy and understanding so as to eliminate racism and foster Reconciliation in Canada.
