This activity guide examines the history and ongoing impacts of the Residential School System, while also addressing the importance of Survivors healing. Participants are reminded of what was lost during the era of Residential Schools and are shown ways in which they can strengthen Reconciliation efforts.

Curriculums

Guide à l’appui de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage des pensionnats indiens – FRENCH ONLY

This curriculum was developed for Ontario francophone students in Grades 8 and 10. It offers an overview of the Residential School System, the Day School System and the Sixties Scoop. It also touches on questions of identity, stereotypes and Reconciliation.

This resource on the Inuit experience of Residential Schools, shares the voices of 8 Inuit Survivors. Illustrated with Survivors personal photographs and objects, and contextualized by historical images gathered from archives across Canada.

Environmental Scan of K-6 Curriculum – ENGLISH ONLY

This is an environmental scan of K-6 curriculums across several provinces in Canada.

A Compendium of Aboriginal Healing Foundation Research

This is an overview of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation’s major research. It provides summaries of over 20 categories, whose purpose in researching was to contribute to and strengthen the healing of Indigenous communities across Canada.
